IMMERSIVE ART EXPERIENCE WITH INTERNATIONALLY EXHIBITED VIETNAMESE PAINTINGS

This is the title of an article published in the Saigon Giai Phong News, just before the TRANG & TRANH exhibition held at Park Hyatt Saigon from October 11-13, 2024.

Journalist Thien Binh describes the exhibition as a unique space that blends classical exhibition styles with futuristic technology through immersive art experiences. These experiences include sound, light, projection technology, and devices that enhance the artistic content of the works through visual perception.

In addition to highlighting the unique aspects of the TRANG & TRANH exhibition, the article also features information about the artist Le Trang, extracted from her portfolio curated by Dot Zhihan Jia, MA. from the Courtauld Institute of Art. The paintings have previously participated in an international exhibition and are now being showcased in Vietnam.

“Le Trang (b. 1987, Vietnam) holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from RMIT International University. Her artworks examine the formation and contestation of social, cultural, and gender orders within contemporary Vietnam. Through her large-scale paintings, Trang explores notions of situated histories, motherhood, familial legacies, and interspecies connections, employing intricate manipulations of colour. Drawing upon her Hue heritage, Trang endeavours to elevate female narratives that have been historically lost or understated. Trang draws inspiration from a diverse array of cultural references, ranging from the art and craft history of Vietnam to Modernist landscape paintings, as well as figures such as Diem Phung Thi and Ton Nu Thi Ninh, Asian golden weaver birds native to Vietnam, as well as significant events like the 1999 catastrophic flood of Hue. This eclectic mix of influences contributes to Trang’s artistic oeuvre, which reflects a nuanced understanding of the aesthetic context and historical grandeur intrinsic to her Vietnamese identity.”
