On the evening of 14 January, “Daydream Among Blossoms” (Mộng giữa Chiều Hoa) – the second solo exhibition by artist Le Trang – officially opened at the Vietnam National Fine Arts Museum.
Covering the event, a reporter from Công Luận noted that the exhibition “has drawn considerable interest from both art professionals and the art-loving community.”
In his opening remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr Nguyen The Ky – Vice Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council and Head of the Council for Literature and Arts Theory and Criticism – observed that from images of the former imperial capital of Hue and its citadel, to the traditional “áo dài” and graceful young women, Le Trang’s paintings do more than convey aesthetic narratives; they evoke a deeper cultural resonance.
He added that he was particularly struck by the series depicting the weaver birds, noting that “in every posture, its gaze is fixed upon the nest”, a symbol of the longing for return, of attachment, and of the quiet peace embedded in the Vietnamese spiritual world.
The exhibition “Daydream Among Blossoms” presents 36 oil paintings across four collections: HUE HERITAGE, MOTHERHOOD, HOME, and STILL LIFE. Rather than focusing on literal representation, Le Trang embraces a style that blends colour, form, and inner emotion to create evocative works – each like a moment of quiet contemplation within the soul.
