The 20th edition of Giornata del Contemporaneo (Day of Contemporary Art) will return

On Saturday, October 12, 2024, the 20th edition of Giornata del Contemporaneo (Day of Contemporary Art) will return. This major event has brought contemporary art closer to the public since its inception in 2005, organized by the Association of Italian Contemporary Art Museums (AMACI) with support from the Directorate-General for Contemporary Creativity under the Ministry of Culture, alongside the Directorate-General for Public and Cultural Diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy.

Unlike traditional exhibitions, Italy’s Day of Contemporary Art is held under the patronage of AMACI and gathers the finest galleries and art associations from across the country to co-host public contemporary art festivals. I’m thrilled to share that Isolart Gallery is the official coorganizer of the 20th edition in the Florence region, in partnership with Villa Schneiderff.

The theme of the exhibition at Isolart Gallery and Villa Schneiderff for this year’s Day of Contemporary Art is INSIDE. This exhibition delves into the inner conflicts between the individual and society, exploring the desire for freedom through contemporary art. With a focus on the iconic work “Donna in Gabbia” by Tomaso Binga, it reflects on the complex relationship between gender inequality, societal restrictions, and personal liberation. The theme symbolizes the inner battle of dreams against external constraints but also highlights the power of art to foster freedom and breakthroughs. The exhibition will run from October 12 to 18, 2024.

Due to the conclusion of my solo exhibition in Vietnam on October 13, I was unable to attend the opening ceremony of the 20th Giornata del Contemporaneo (Day of Contemporary Art). Nevertheless, it is a significant honour for me to have my painting “Home on the Pond” (2023) from the HOME collection selected for display at this prestigious event.
